Generic medications contain the same active ingredient as the brand name, and are designed to be chemically equivalent to have the same effect on the body. Since generic medications are made by different manufacturers they will differ in shape, size, color, markings, and non-active ingredients. Generic medications are lower in price because unlike the brand name, they don't require high research and development costs to manufacturer and market. Also, multiple manufacturers will often produce the same generic medication allowing for more competitive pricing.

Brand name medications we sell are chemically and therapeutically no different from the ones you get filled from your local pharmacy. They both are generally made by the same exact manufacturer. Typically, the key differences will often be trade names and packaging. Trade names are brand names registered by the manufacturer. In different countries manufacturers will often use different trade names. The medications have the same active ingredients, but may look different and have a different trade name. For example, , the medication Lexapro, is known as Cipralex in Canada. Another well known example is the medication Nexium. In the United States, Nexium comes in the form of a purple capsule, but in Canada and some other countries, it comes in the form of a pink tablet.

Even for many brand name drugs, while the manufacturer of the drug may be an American or European company, for a variety of reasons, the drug itself may be manufactured outside of the USA or Europe.
